This set contains all 18 teams that competed in the second level of rugby league in England (and Wales), with all teams getting home and away team ratings, as well as scoring cards including try scorers and goal kickers.
Due to a lack of data, this set doesn't include individual goal kicker ranges, and team kicks at goal have been estimated using the 1983 Australian League data.
As this season had a much greater number of drop goals than in the modern day, we recommend ignoring the time boundaries as described in the rule book for when a drop goal can be 'allowed', and just use the score difference at the time to determine if, and to which team, a drop goal was scored.
Barrow had a season to remember, winning 32 of 34 league matches in winning the second tier title, along with winning the Lancashire County Cup when defeating first tier (and this season's Challenge Cup winners) Widnes 12-8. They were joined in the promotion places by Workington, Hunslet and Halifax.
The growing spread of the game from its heartlands continued, as having already played a couple of seasons, Cardiff were joined by a club in Maidstone - Kent, as the league expanded to 18 clubs (and 34 professional clubs overall).
Like in the previous season - albeit from two extra matches - Doncaster took the last place in the league, with just two wins and a draw.
This set also contains defensive adjustments to both leagues taken from matches between the two tiers in all four cup competitions, allowing you to also play either one-off matches, or playing those same cup tournaments, with representative ratings.
