This set was created as a companion to the Great Britain and Ireland tour of Australia set - also available.

This series took place to mark the centenary of South Africa's rugby authority, and was highly controversial at the time given it took place during the apartheid era of South Africa, although all the major rugby nations at the time, barring New Zealand - perhaps after having hosted South Africa in a controversial tour, at a time the country was exiled by and from most of the sports world, had players take part in the two-match series.

This set has some ratings having been estimated due to lack of information, and also uses an era-specific double range for drop goals.
