All twelve men's and eight women's teams that played in the tournament are included for this Hybrid Rules set. 
 
After drawing their group match, Germany claimed a second gold medal when they beat Australia 2-1 in the men's final, and their first as a unified country. It was Australia's third loss in a gold medal match. Pakistan finished in third with a 4-3 victory over the Netherlands.
 
In the women's final, and again after a draw in the group stage between the pair, Spain claimed a first gold medal after a 2-1 extra-time win over Germany as they were denied a double gold. It was also their second loss in a gold medal match after losing to the Netherlands in Los Angeles eight years previously. Great Britain claimed their best finish with a bronze medal match win over South Korea by 4-3, also after extra time.
