In the men's tournament, New Zealand won a fifth gold medal in six as they shut-out Fiji in the final, with England beating reigning champions for bronze. In what was the first women's tournament at these Games, New Zealand completed a sweep of gold, but only after beating Australia in extra time in the final. England again came third, beating Canada in the bronze medal match.
