Due to the pandemic, the series was shifted from mid-season to post-season for the first time, and after being written off pre-series, Queensland won an historic first Series match in Adelaide 18-14. Despite taking a heavy 34-10 loss in game two in Sydney, back in front of a large crowd in Brisbane, the home side shocked a highly rated New South Wales team to claim a 2-1 series win with a 20-14 decision, winning back the shield for the first time since 2017.
