The final replacement tournament for the suspended Southern Club League featured the four South African SCL franchises along with the 5-Country League's Free State and the two local franchises, Griqualand West and Mpumalanga.
Unlike other SCL sets, because each team played a maximum of only six matches, they have just one set of team ratings and a tournament-specific home-and-away control chart (although a neutral venue chart is also included), alongside the usual full team card of try scorers (including extra scorers) and individual goal kicker ranges.
The six match tournament was hit badly by coronavirus with three matches cancelled but despite an early loss to Free State, Northern Gauteng took the title with five wins from six ahead of Western Province and KwaZulu-Natal, who were the leaders before the shortened SCL season came to an abrupt end.
