The Netherlands returned to the top step of the women's podium after losing the final in a shootout to Great Britain in Rio, as they denied Argentina their first gold in the women's tournament, with a 3-1 victory. For the Argentineans it was their third silver medal. India themselves were denied an historic first women's medal, when Great Britain edged home 4-3 in a second free scoring bronze medal match.
