This set contains full team cards for all 12 teams who qualified to the, delayed, tournament in New Zealand, including try scorers (and extra scorers) lists and individual goal kicking ranges, as well as tournament-specific control charts.
The final saw a repeat of the 2017 final with hosts and defending champions New Zealand and England making it through. Both teams had had one tricky match in the group stage - the New Zealanders fell 17-0 behind to Australia in the opener, before winning 41-17, while England had to hang on to defeat France 13-7.
After both teams won easily in the quarter-finals, the semis were much tighter. England held off a determined Canada side 26-19, but France could have knocked out the hosts but for a missed penalty in the 79th minute by Caroline Drouin that allowed the champions to come away with a 25-24 victory.
England, who had a year earlier won both tests at home to New Zealand - twice handing them record defeats - and came in on a record 30 straight test match victories, raced into an early 14-0 lead inside just a quarter of an hour. But the key turning point was the red card of Lydia Thompson, which although England scored two more tries in the first half, allowed New Zealand to remain in touch with three of their own at 26-19 at half-time.
Two tries at the start of the second half put the Kiwis in front, and although Amy Cokayne completed a hat-trick of tries for the visitors, the player differential eventually proved enough to tip it in the hosts favour with Ayesha Leti-I'iga scoring her second and the match winning score nine minutes from time as New Zealand claimed a sixth title (in seven), 34-31.
The third place playoff was a surprisingly one-sided affair, as France overcame their disappointment in their semi-final loss to brush aside Canada 36-0 to equal their best-ever finish, which they've now achieved seven times (in nine World Cups held).
