The inaugural 3-on-3 basketball tournament at the Commonwealth Games saw hosts England reach both finals. In the men's they reigned supreme, with a 13-12 semifinal victory over Canada repeated by an overtime win in the gold medal match over their rivals Australia, 17-16. Canada claimed the bronze, defeating Scotland 13-12.
 
They were unable to claim the double gold as Canada were able to claim victory in another one point medal match, 14-13. Indeed the largest victory was in the bronze medal match as Australia pinched the medal off New Zealand, 15-13, in a match between two teams who were unbeaten in the pool before both losing their semifinal comprehensively.
