This set contains all 14 teams from New Zealand's provincial league (second-level, below the Pacific Club League for New Zealand franchises). All teams have full team cards, with try scorers and individual goal kicking ranges, with the set also including control charts for both home-and-away and neutral venue matches.
 
A return to a one-division system where all 14 teams were able to win the whole competition saw Wellington return to the top after 22 years. Their season also saw them lift the Challenge Shield, ending Hawke's Bay's 14 successful defences (10 against provincial top-level clubs) with a 19-12 victory in Napier. They then retained the Shield against defending league champions Waikato the next week, on the way to topping their conferencce.
 
Canterbury, looking for their first title in five years, topped the other conference, with both making their way to the final in the Christchurch. However, following a 54-19 demolition of Auckland in the semi-final, the visitors scored two tries in the first half on the way to a shock 26-18 victory.
