Norway remain at the top of women's handball, as they claimed back-to-back titles and a fourth in five, however gained a new counterpart to battle for their slot in Denmark. The Danes won their main round match 31-29 to hand what would be the Norwegians only loss of the tournament, before they met again in the final after seeing off the co-hosts Montenegro, and France respectively.

And they would then lead again in the final 15-12 at half-time and nearly halfway through the second half by four goals. But Norway again showed their classiness as they finished off the game 9-3 to claim the title, 27-25.

Montenegro would claim third place with an extra time victory over France by the same score of 27-25, after the regular time ended 22-22. It was the Montenegrins best finish since winning the title in 2012, and first time France had finished off the podium since 2014.
