Glasgow topped the table - the first for a non-Irish club in this format - but after defeating Connacht, were surprisingly beaten by the eventual final losers in a frantic finish, 22-21 in the semi-final. Cardiff and Gauteng both made their first ever appearance in the finals series in this model, but both suffered heavy quarter-final losses.
