The international break derailed Gloucester-Hartpury's bid for a fourth straight title. After winning with a bonus point all of their first 14 matches, they didn't win again - losing 41-39 at Ealing and 26-21 at home to Bristol, before Ealing's rise continued by repeating the win in the semi-final at Kingsholm, 29-26.
 
London S also saw off Exeter in the other semi-final, again closely fought by 40-38. And they would deny a first-ever title for their fellow Londoners, instead claiming a record fourth title in a demolition job,  52-14 at Twickenham Stoop.
