The inaugural tournament for continental and global winners held in Thailand was won in the men's division by Serbia (who qualified by ranking) after they defeated Olympic champions Netherlands by a single point, 17-16, while in the women's division, Pan-American Cup winners Canada defeated Europe Cup winners Spain 15-13.
 
Australia, who won both Asia Cups, also took both bronze medals, beating the United States in the men and Germany in the women, and both by a single point, the former in a 21-20 walkoff.
