In the finals in China, they didn't drop a set in beating Japan, then number one seeds Brazil in the semi-final, before beating Italy too in straight sets in the final. It was their second title after winning in 2023.
 
Defending champions France lost to Slovenia in the quarter-finals, but after losing to Italy, the European nation was defeated in the third place match by the Brazilians.
 
In the first season with all able to be relegated, the Netherlands had an awful year, finishing 1-11 and last. China played the finals tournament as host (replacing Iran who finished in eighth), but only won three matches themselves to finish second last - and lost to Brazil in the quarters, though did win one set.
