This set contains all 14 teams from New Zealand's provincial league (second-level, below the Pacific Club League for New Zealand franchises). All teams have full team cards, with try scorers and individual goal kicking ranges, with the set also including control charts for both home-and-away and neutral venue matches.
 
Canterbury returned to win the title for the first time in eight years, and a leading 15th overall, when they defeated South Island rivals Otago, 36-28 in the final. They topped the table with only one loss, and the playoffs series saw every match won by the home team. Otago were making their first final appearance since 2005, and first in this format, and had played a topsy-turvy quarter-final with Waikato before winning 44-41.
 
Taranaki started the year with the Challenge Shield, but lost it to Waikato 23-22 in their fourth defence of it, but then both Southland and then Canterbury took it themselves, before Otago gave them their only loss 38-36 in Christchurch to finish the year with it themselves.
