North Melbourne went even better than their undefeated season in 2024, winning all 15 starts in 2025 to lift back-to-back premierships.
The Grand Final was for the third year in a row between them and Brisbane, but it came after a fourth quarter turnaround saw them squeak past Melbourne in the Preliminary Final. But there was no problem for them against the Queenslanders, winning by 40 points to make it 27 consecutive wins across the past two seasons.
They completed an undefeated season, only drawing once in 11 regular matches to Geelong (who didn't even make the finals), but after holding off Adelaide in their qualifying final, stormed past Port Adelaide (who were making their first finals appearance) by 57 points in the preliminary final, before downing Brisbane, who were making their record sixth Grand Final appearance. Both Adelaide clubs lost in the preliminary final, while Hawthorn, after making a breakthrough to come in second place in the regular season, went out in straight sets to Brisbane, and then in the biggest fourth quarter turnaround in league history, to Port Adelaide by a point (having trailed by 22 at three-quarter-time).
