England had started out with a 48-7 win over Wales, but then lost three in a row - including Italy's historic first-ever victory over them, before then putting in a performance not scene the rest of the tournament before falling to the champions.
 
Italy meanwhile had the chance to finish with three wins for the first-ever time, only to run up against a Wales side who finally ended their losing streak in the competition since beating the Italians in 2023, 16 losses ago. They still finished with another wooden spoon though.
 
And both Scotland and Ireland went in that final match with hopes of the title themselves - only for Ireland to end the former's with a 43-21 victory, as they'd end up finishing second.
